HRT METEO 3.6.6

A unique application that allows the monitoring of measurements and observations from the official meteorological stations of the National Meteorological and Hydrological Service of Croatia (DHMZ), as well as most other European meteorological services, in accordance with World Meteorological Organization standards. The application also offers radar precipitation images and forecasts from DHMZ experts, previously only accessible through Croatian radio and television broadcasts, along with Croatian Auto Club (HAK) traffic updates, including live video streams from various regions in Croatia.

Unlike many other similar applications where forecasts are based on computer-generated numerical weather predictions from a single atmospheric model, HRT METEO's seasoned and highly educated meteorologists formulate their forecasts by analyzing current weather conditions and conducting numerous calculations using various atmospheric models. This approach enables them to provide forecasts for future atmospheric and marine conditions in different regions and urban areas. Additionally, the app delivers prompt severe weather alerts shortly after the meteorologists' predictions for the DHMZ.

HRT METEO features:

• The most recent measurements from official DHMZ meteorological stations located near the specified areas:
  • air temperature (°C)
  • wind speed and direction (m/s or km/h)
  • sea-level air pressure (hPa)
  • comparison of air pressure with the previous measurement (hPa/h)
  • relative humidity (%)
  • sea temperature (°C)
  • precipitation amount in the last 12 and/or 24 hours (mm/12 or 24h)
  • snow depth (cm)
• The latest radar precipitation images from DHMZ.
• HAK traffic updates, including recent webcam images and driver advice.
• Sunrise and sunset times based on the NOAA algorithm for the specified region or area.
• The day of the previous and upcoming change in the lunar cycle.

Forecasts comprise:

• pictograms and numbers for 55 urban areas in Croatia for the current and next day
• pictograms and numbers for 44 European cities, including 10 from neighboring countries of Croatia
• written forecasts for 8 Croatian regions for the present and following day, along with pictograms and numbers for the following two days
• separate outlooks for continental and coastal Croatia for the next two days
• a special marine forecast focusing on winds, sea conditions, and visibility in the Adriatic Sea
• a narrative forecast based on an analysis of past and present weather conditions provided by experienced meteorologists
• a pictorial forecast indicating prevailing weather trends for a specific region or urban area that day
• a numerical forecast detailing daily high and low temperatures for a specific location, as well as significant highs and lows for a region
• biometeorological forecasts tailored to regions within Croatia
• comfort index assessments for Croatian locations
• UV index forecasts at 14:00 (13:00 in winter months) for requested Croatian places
• traffic predictions offered by HAK specialists
• video forecasts from HRT's weather reports

Extreme weather warnings cover:

• winds, frost, thunderstorms, fog, extreme high or low temperatures, and heavy rainfall alerts for 8 Croatian regions
• notifications following the original extreme weather warnings from the on-duty DHMZ meteorologist within minutes

HRT collaborates with DHMZ and HAK to provide this service.
